Malic enzyme 3 (ME3) is a NADP(+)-dependent mitochondrial protein, encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 11q14.2.
Synonyms: Anti-Malic enzyme 3, NADP(+)-dependent, mitochondrial
Storage: -20C
Application: Anti-ME3 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunofluorescence studies.
Biochem Physiol Actions: Mitochondrial malic enzyme 3 (ME3) uses either NAD+ or NADP+ as a cofactor and catalyzes oxidative decarboxylation of malate to yield pyruvate. ME3 regulates insulin secretion in pancreatic ß-cells.
