The gene KLF17 (Kruppel like factor 17) is mapped to human chromosome 1p34. The protein has a conserved DNA binding domain (DBD) containing C2H2 Kruppel like zinc fingers. It belongs to the Sp/KLF (specificity protein/Kruppel like factor) zinc finger protein family.

Biochem Physiol Actions: KLF17 (Kruppel like factor 17) interacts with the G/C and CACCC boxes of specific genes and is involved in transcription. KLF17 inhibits cancer cell metastasis, by suppressing the transcription of ID1 (inhibitor of DNA binding 1). It is downregulated in breast cancer, lung adenocarcinoma and hepatocellular carcinoma.
