Integrin a3 (ITGA3) belongs to the integrin family. It is expressed in various parts of the developing kidney, like undifferentiated metanephric mesenchyme (MM), primary vesicles, S-shaped bodies and developing tubules. This gene is located on human chromosome 17q21.33.

Biochem Physiol Actions: Integrin a3 (ITGA3) plays a major role in renal development. It may also participate in nephrogenesis. Mutations in ITGA3 gene results in interstitial lung disease, nephrotic syndrome and epidermolysis bullosa (ILNEB syndrome).
