Biochem Physiol Actions: Interferon-induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 2 or IFIT2 is a protein encoded by the IFIT2 gene in humans. It is one of the most highly responsive interferon-stimulated genes and is responsible for interferon stimulation. It may play an important role in inhibiting cell migration. The protein may help in preventing oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) metastasis and may serve as a valuable prognostic marker. It negatively regulates eIF3 protein complex and inhibits translation initiation.
