Hemoglobin (Hb) is oxygen-binding metalloprotein that is present in the red blood cells. The most abundant Hb is HbA tetramer that is made up of two alpha, two beta chains and the nonprotein heme group. Antibodies againsy Hemoglobulin are routinely used in diagnostics to detect blood in fecal matter (Fecal Occult Blood Test) which is a commonly used test to screen colorectal cancer.
