Application: Anti-HSPD1 antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.
Biochem Physiol Actions: HSPD1 (60kDa heat shock protein, mitochondrial) gene encodes a molecular chaperone, a member of the chaperonin family called the heat shock protein 60. It is localized in the mitochondrial matrix, where it forms barrel shaped chaperone chambers with its co-chaperone Hsp10. The mitochondrial proteins fold efficiently inside these chambers contributing to the control of mitochondrial protein quality. Missense mutation in this gene have been linked to an autosomal recessive spastic paraplegia 13.
