Biochem Physiol Actions: HLA-DMB (Major histocompatibility complex, class II, DM ß) is a cell surface molecule without any lysosomal sorting motif. It is a vital component of the MHC II antigen presentation machinery. It catalyzes peptide dissociation and exchange in class II MHC (Major histocompatibility) molecules from the MHC-peptide complexes. It is expressed in the antigen-presenting cells (APC). It also acts as a negative regulator in the HLA-DR4-restricted collagen pathogenic peptide presentation in APC and T cell recognition followed by CII-dependent autoimmunity.
