Biochem Physiol Actions: HECW1 (HECT, C2 and WW domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1) gene encodes an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that catalyzes the ubiquitination-mediated degradation of Dvl1 (Dishevelled-1). It is also called as NEDL-1 and forms a complex with translocon-associated protein-d (TRAP-d), an ER translocon component, and binds to mutant SOD1 that leads to motor neuron death in FALS (familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
