The gene FBXO42 (F-box protein 42) is mapped to human chromosome 1p16. It is mainly expressed in the heart and skeletal muscle. However, the mRNA is also present in the placenta, liver, pancreas, brain, lung and kidney. The encoded protein has a kelch domain and a F-box motif. FBXO42 belongs to the F-box family of proteins.
Synonyms: Anti-F-box only protein 42
Storage: -20C
Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: FBXO42 (F-box protein 42) works in the ubiquitin-proteasome system and is involved in protein degradation. It mainly participates in the assembly of the SCF (skp, cullin, F-box containing) complex. FBXO42 is responsible for the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of p53. It is also involved in the ubiquitination and degradation of ING4 (inhibitor of growth family member 4), thereby enhancing angiogenesis and metastasis of breast cancer. FBXO42 might be associated with Parkinson's disease (PD).
