Biochem Physiol Actions: EFR3A (EFR3 homolog A) is an adaptor protein, which forms a complex with PI4KIIIa (phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase III a). The yeast homolog is needed for yeast PI4K (phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase) Stt4 localization and functioning. Similarly, mammalian EFR3 participates in the maintenance of an active pool of PI4KA (phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase a) at the cell surface. The EFR3s also regulate the responsiveness of G-protein-coupled receptors in eukaryotic cells by controlling the phosphorylation state of AGTR1 (AT1a receptor).
