Biochem Physiol Actions: CYP26B1 (Cytochrome P450, family 26, subfamily B, polypeptide) is an inhibitor of all-trans-retinoic acid (RA). It is expressed in the cerebellum and pons of human adult brain. In addition to inactivation of RA, it also regulates RA metabolism. It is also involved in both level of patterning and in bone ossification during skeletal development.
