Biochem Physiol Actions: COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase) catalyzes the O-methylation of catecholamine neurotransmitters and catechol hormones and inactivates them. It may be used in the metabolism of catechol drugs used in the treatment of hypertension, asthma, and Parkinson disease. It is found in soluble as well as membrane-bound form, varying in the N-termini.
