Biochem Physiol Actions: CLDN11 (Claudin-11) gene encodes a protein belonging to the claudin family. Claudin-11 is a tight junction protein human blood-testis barrier (BTB). It also forms a component of the myelin in the CNS and functions in the proliferation and migration of oligodendrocytes. Dsyfunction of this gene has been implicated in disruption of BTB. Claudins play an imporatnt role in compartmentalization in multicellular organisms.
