CD2AP (CD2-associated protein) gene encodes a saffolding protein. It consist of three consecutive SH3 domains at the N terminus followed by a proline-rich domain, a coiled-coiled domain and a monomeric actin binding domain at the C-terminus. The molar mass of this protein is 80kDa.

Biochem Physiol Actions: CD2AP (CD2-associated protein) protein is involved in T cell activation. It is expressed predominantly in glomerular podocytes and has been suggested to play a role in slit diaphragm, a specialized adhesion complex that functions as a tight junction. The protein associates with nephrin, a podocyte-specific protein, and plays an important role in kidney function.
