Biochem Physiol Actions: Scavenger receptor CD163 (also known as M160) protein is encoded by M160 gene and is mapped to human chromosome 12p13.3. It belongs to scavenger receptor cysteine-rich superfamily and is found to be expressed by the monocyte or macrophage cell lineage. It acts as a key entry mediator for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV).
