Chaperonin containing TCP1 subunit 7 (?) (CCT7) is a 181-amino-acid protein (21kDa) localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus. It is composed of two rings, one on top of the other, forming a cylinder. Each of the rings has eight different 60kDa subunits-a, ß, d, e, ?, ?, ? and ?.

Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: Chaperonin containing TCP1 subunit 7 (?) (CCT7) takes part in the ribosomal 60S subunit assembly in the cytoplasm. It is also involved in the pre-rRNA processing and ribosome assembly by interacting with the green fluorescent (GFP) fusion protein. It has been shown to assist the folding of proteins like actin and tubulin. Nitric oxide (NO) exerts its biological effects through activation of the heterodimeric enzyme, soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC). CCT7 interacts with the ß1subunit of sGC. It inhibits its activity by modifying the binding of NO to the heme group and causes some conformational changes in the enzyme.
