Bevacizumab (Avastin) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the trea™ent of a number of types of cancers and a specific eye disease. Bevacizumab binds a continuous epitope in VEGF, preventing interaction of VEGF with VEGFR on the surface of endothelial cells. It can be used to inhibit solid tumour growth and metastasis by weakening tumour angiogenesis.
