Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase, H+ transporting, mitochondrial F1 complex, ß polypeptide (ATP5B) gene encodes a subunit of mitochondrial ATP synthase that catalyzes ATP synthesis from ADP in the presence of a proton gradient across the membrane. ATP synthase is composed of the catalytic core, F1 and the proton channel, Fo. F1 consists of three each of a and ß, and one each of ?, d and e subunits. The gene encodes the ß subunit.
Synonyms: Anti-ATP synthase subunit beta, mitochondrial precursor antibody produced in rabbit
Storage: -20C
Application: Anti-ATP5B antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.
Biochem Physiol Actions: Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase, H+ transporting, mitochondrial F1 complex, ß polypeptide (ATP5B) is implicated in colorectal, breast, lung and hepatocellular cancer. Mutations in this gene are associated with acute myeloid leukemia, Parkinson and Huntington disease.
