ALDOC (Fructose-bisphosphate aldolase C) gene encodes a glycolytic enzyme belonging to the fructose-biphosphate aldolase gene family. Aldolase isozymes A, B and C form the class I enzymes found in mammals. The isozyme aldolase C is mainly expressed in brain and neuronal tissue. These isozymes have conserved residues in the catalytic site forming the Schiff-base intermediate. Isozyme C is found to be expressed in proliferating and cancer cells.
Synonyms: Anti-Brain-type aldolase antibody produced in rabbit; Anti-Fructose-bisphosphate aldolase C antibody produced in rabbit
Storage: -20C
Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: Fructose-bisphosphate aldolases catalyze the reversible aldol cleavage of fructose-1,6-(bis)phosphate to dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and fructose 1-phosphate to either glyceral-dehyde-3-phosphate (G3P) or glyceraldehyde. Aldolase C has been implicated in cell growth, vertebrate development, and other metabolic processes. Its expression is upregulated by nerve-growth-factor-induced B factor, a transcription factor of the thyroid/steroid/retinoid nuclear receptor gene family, suggesting that this isozyme may also have a neurodevelopmental role.
