(1S,2R)-(+)-Norephedrine is an enantiomer of ephedrine mainly used as a chiral auxiliary for asymmetric synthesis.
Synonyms: (1S,2R)-2-Amino-1-phenyl-1-propanol; erythro-alpha-(1-aminoethyl)benzyl alcohol; D-(+)-Norephedrine; Phenylpropanolamine
Molecular Formula: C9H13NO
Molecular Weight: 151.21
Linear Structural Formula: C6H5CH(OH)CH(CH3)NH2
MDL Number: MFCD00064411
Purity: 98%
Melting Point: 51-54 C (lit.)
Storage: 2-8C
Application: (1S,2R)-(+)-Norephedrine may be used in the preparation of dendritic ligands, which on combining with Ru(II) complexes form efficient asymmetric transfer hydrogenation catalysts. It may also be used in the preparation of N-((1S,2R)-1-hydroxy-1-phenylpropan-2-yl)furan-2-carboxamide. This chiral amide can efficiently catalyze the enantioselective ethylation of aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes to secondary alcohols in the absence of titanium tetraisopropoxide as promotor.
