L-DPPC is a zwitterionic phosphoglyceride that can be used for the preparation of liposomal monolayers. The extent of incorporation of the enzyme γ-glutamyl transpeptidase in erythrocyte membranes was five times higher when proteoliposomes were prepared from L-DPPC as compared to control. L-DPPC incorporated liposomes have potential in establishing active immunotherapy with antigens exhibiting poor immunogenicity, such as glycosphingolipid antigens.
