Update on Research Labs

Update on operational status of global research labs. We're publishing our weekly update on research lab activity, analyzing the data from the BioInformatics "COVID-19 Lab Closures Tracker." We note that while there is some week-to-week volatility, we're encouraged by the largely steady improvements over the last several waves.

• BioInformatics survey: Each week, BioInformatics The tracker is based on a survey of life.
• Wave 10 global data (6/5-6/8): The latest survey included responses from 480 labs across the world, with 24% shut down, 54% operating at reduced capacity, and 21% fully operational (wave 9: 27% shut down, 53% operating at reduced capacity, and 20% fully operational). We note that while there is some week-to-week volatility, we're encouraged by the largely steady improvements over the last several waves. Activity levels in pharma research labs remained above those in academia; of global pharma labs (n=120), 8% were shut down, 61% were operating at reduced capacity, and 31% were fully operational, vs. 30% shut down, 52% operating at reduced capacity, and 18% fully operational for academic labs (n=355).
