Kanamycin is used to select for mutated or transformed cells that are kanamycin resistant. In research labs, there are several commonly used kanamycin resistance genes (e.g., aph, ntpII, and aaC-aphD). Typically, low-copy-number plasmids require less kanamycin than high-copy-number plasmids.
50 µg/mL kanamycin is the most commonly used concentration.
Contains 50 mg/mL or 100 mg/mL kanamycin sulfate.
