A stereoisomer of the antitumor anthracycline doxorubicin that undergoes β-glucuronidation, which partially detoxifies the dose-limiting side effects that are present with doxorubicin; equally cytotoxic to HeLa cells compared to doxorubicin (ID₅₀s = 9 μM).
