Bile Salts is extracted under controlled conditions from purified fresh bile, to be used in bacteriological culture media as a selective inhibitory agent for isolation and identification of pathogens. It is used in media for example MacConkey Agar/Broth, SS Agar, VRBA, Fluid Tetrathionate Medium, etc.
Application: For use in Bacteriological Culture Media as Selective inhibitory Agent
- Appearance: Yellow to brownish yellow homogenous free flowing powder
- Solubility: Freely soluble in distilled/purified water
- Clarity: 1% w/v aqueous solution is clear and free from extraneous matter
- Reaction: Reaction of 1% w/v aqueous solution at 25ºC
- Cultural response: Cultural response observed after an incubation at 35-37ºC for 18-24 hours by preparing MaConkey Agar (M081) using Bile salts as an ingredient
