UM-SCC-17B is a unique head and neck squamous carcinoma cell line derived from the metastatic neck tumor of a 48-year old female patient . UM-SCC-17B is negative for HPV-16, HPV-18, Hepatitis A, B, C, HIV-1 & 2 viruses and grows as tightly packed colonies or islands. UM-SCC-17B was established at the University of Michigan with written informed consent obtained from the patient and with the approval of the study by the Medical School Institutional Review Board.
