ULBP1 (Unique Long 16 binding protein 1) gene encodes a ligand for KLRK1/NKG2D (natural killer cell lec-tin-like receptor gene 2D) receptor. It consists of a1 and a2 domains, which are connected to the cell surface through glycosylphosphatidylinositol. This receptor is expressed on natural killer (NK) cells, NKT cells, ?d+ T cells and CD8+ T cells.

Application: Anti-ULBP1 antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.
Biochem Physiol Actions: ULBP1 (Unique Long 16 binding protein 1) functions as a stimulatory immune receptor and is expressed on natural killer (NK) cells, NKT cells, ?d+ T cells and CD8+ T cells. The expression of this ligand is stimulated upon infection and other inducers of cellular stress. This ligand binds to the receptor and initiates an immune response by activating multiple signaling pathways in primary NK cells. It serves as a prognostic marker in cervical cancer.
