Application: Anti-LITAF antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.
Biochem Physiol Actions: LITAF (Lipopolysaccharide-induced TNF factor) is a widely expressed integral membrane protein of lysosome/late endosome. It activates monocytes and macrophages, which further accelerates the tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-a) secretion and other inflammatory mediators. It is localized in the intraluminal vesicles of multivesicular bodies (MVBs) and inside exosomes. It is involved in the generation of exosomes through modulating the MVBs formation. Mutation in LITAF causes a rare neurological autosomal-dominant demyelination disorder in CMT1C (Charcot-Marie-Tooth 1C).
