The gene GCM1 (glial cells missing homolog 1) is located on human chromosome 6p12. It belongs to the glial cells missing (GCM) family. GCM1 is present in villous cytotrophoblast cells, the syncytiotrophoblast layer and extravillous trophoblast cells.
Synonyms: Anti-GCMA; Anti-glial cells missing homolog 1 (Drosophila); Anti-hGCMa
Storage: -20C
Application: Anti-GCM1 antibody has been used in western blotting.
Biochem Physiol Actions: GCM1 (glial cells missing homolog 1) is a transcription factor that plays an important role in the growth of placenta. It plays a vital role in trophoblast cell fusion and invasion by enhancing the expression of syncytin-1 and syncytin-2 fusogenic proteins and HtrA4 serine protease. GCM1 may also participate in the epigenetic modulation of syncytin 2 gene expression.
