The protein has an I-BAR (inverted Bin/amphiphysin/Rvs) domain, a partial Cdc42 (cell division cycle 42)/Rac (v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 1) binding domain, Src homology-3 (SH3) domain and a PDZ (PSD95, Dlg1 and zo-1) domain.

Biochem Physiol Actions: BAIAP2 (BAI1 associated protein 2) interaction with CDC42 (cell division cycle 42) is needed for filopodia formation. It is also involved in neuronal growth cone guidance. Mutations in BAIAP2 are associated with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism. BAIAP2 also participates in emotional modulation of memory strength.
