Biochem Physiol Actions: Aldolase B (ALDOB) is a major enzyme that catalyzes methylglyoxal (MG) formation from fructose in endothelial cells. It blocks high glucose-activated metabolic and signaling pathways by restricting MG production in endothelial cells. The siRNA knockdown of ALDOB in endothelial cells inhibits high glucose-induced MG overproduction. Mutation in ALDOB gene causes hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI).
