Stain Kit differs from this technique through the use of a stabilized, pre-measured Methenamine Silver Compound, instead of Methenamine Borate, Hexamine, or Silver Nitrate Solutions. This benefits the end user through ease of use and a longer shelf life. A Methenamine Silver Developer Solution serves as the primary stain, with Gold Chloride toning the tissue sections, producing gray to black fungi and Pneumocystis jirovecii against a green background counterstained with Light Green. 100ml Stain Kit yields between 20 and 32 slides.
