MGB Alert® VZV ASR

Varicella-zoster virus causes the primary disease varicella (chickenpox), and herpes zoster (shingles) upon reactivation of the virus later in life. Complications from VZV can be severe, including encephalitis and hemorrhagic conditions, and occur in high risk groups such as those on immunosuppressive therapies or with immunodeficiencies.¹ The MGB Alert® VZV primer mix ASR ^§ amplifies, while the probe mix ASR detects, nucleic acids within ORF38 in varicella-zoster virus.
