Parvovirus B19 causes fifth disease (also called erythema infectiosum), which usually presents with a rash, which can spread to the face, fever, and sometimes joint pain. Serious complications from Parvovirus B19 infection, such as chronic anemia, can arise in immunocompromised people.1 The MGB Alert Parvovirus primer mix ASR § amplifies, while the probe mix ASR detects, nucleic acids within the VP1u gene in parvovirus B19.
