Many companies and researchers have developed rapid real-time, RT-PCR tests that are necessary to reliably and quickly diagnose potential Coronavirus-infected patients. We recognize that many basic research settings may not have access to those rapid test and may prefer to analyze their their samples via a more “traditional” route. The CDC1 has published multiple primers and probes sequences, allowing any lab with the expertise and the technology to run their own in-house qRT-PCR assays. In an effort understand the potential immune response against SARS-CoV-2 infection, ELISA kits designed to detect IgM and/or IgG antibodies are now commercially available.
