General description: Sperm Protein Associated with the Nucleus, X Chromosome, family member C (SPANX-C) was originally isolated in a search for genes that contribute to the metastatic pathway of neoplastic cells. Expression in melanoma cells was found in only the most aggressive, highly metastatic cell lines. Subsequent studies have shown expression in a low percentage of carcinomas and in testis.
