An update on import fees and our commitment to you.
Here's what you need to know.
Dear Valued Customer,
We’re reaching out to share an update related to recent U.S. government tariff changes—and more importantly, what that means for you.
Today, 60% of StatLab products are proudly made in the U.S., with another 15–20% manufactured by StatLab in Europe. Over the last four years, StatLab has made intentional and strategic moves to reduce dependency on imported goods, investing heavily in manufacturing capabilities across the U.S. and Europe.
This includes major milestones like:
- Launching cassette manufacturing at our Arlington, TX plant in 2024 to meet growing U.S. demand
- Launching KT Slides, manufactured by StatLab in Germany, with slide production planned to begin stateside in Arlington, TX
- Launching prefill container production in Arlington, TX in early 2025, with gallon containers joining the production floor in mid-2025
Thanks to this forward-thinking strategy, we’re excited to share some good news:
All StatLab-manufactured products—including KT Slides and cover glass, and PiSmart printers—are currently tariff-free. StatLab will absorb the impact of tariffs on products we manufacture in Europe, a decision that reflects our commitment to being a strong, reliable partner.
Many products are made at our facilities in the U.S. and therefore unimpacted by the current tariffs including:
- Prefills
- H&E Stains, Special Stains
- Reagents
- Marking Dyes
- Paraffin
- Decalcifiers
- Control Slides
- Cassettes
For products we don’t manufacture ourselves and are sourced internationally, beginning in May, a small import fee will be applied to offset the tariff fees. This fee will appear as a separate line item on affected invoices and will reflect the cost of the incoming tariffs; this is subject to change as tariffs may fluctuate over the coming months. Right now no changes will be made to customer product pricing.
We understand this may raise questions—and we’re here to help. In fact, if you’re currently sourcing slides or cassettes from another vendor, it’s a great time to ask where those products are made. StatLab offers many high-quality alternatives to China-sourced options, and we’re happy to support any product validation efforts you may need.
As always, thank you for trusting StatLab. We’re proud to support your lab with products that are not only high-performing but thoughtfully and sustainably produced at StatLab plants in the U.S. and Europe by team members who care.
Sincerely,
Dae Hong
StatLab Chief Executive Officer
