Measurement of Organic Halides in Water and Wastewater EPA Standard 1650 (AOX Method) (4663G77 and G79)
For filtration of water sample after acidification and slurry with activated charcoal to adsorb organic halides. Filter and residue are combusted and halogen atoms converted to ions for titration. The maximum level of trace volatile, chlorinated organics in the base film is specified by the method as 0.03 µg/cm or 0.15 µg for a 25-mm membrane. Osmonics tests (by EPA method 8010) and selects filters well below this level.
Low Extractable Membranes for Water Testing (4663G81)
Many states specify the use of polycarbonate membranes to filter and clarify groundwater prior to measuring the amount of nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, phosphates and other pollutants in the water. These filters are specially manufactured and then tested by independant laboratories to be as low as possible in leachable extractables.
