E&K Scientific Integration FAQs

WELCOME E&K Customers! We are excited to share some important information with you now that the integration of E&K Scientific into Thomas Scientific is underway.

Please visit this page often, as we will be updating information, as needed.

Below are FAQs to help you move with us through the integration process. Both E&K Scientific and Thomas Scientific have your best interest in mind and our wish is for you to have a seamless transition.

Service & Sales

Both Thomas Scientific and E&K Scientific are working hard to address as many questions and concerns you, our customers, may have about this integration. Below are some of the many things we will be addressing in the days to come, so please check back here often for the most up-to-date information.

When I dial the E&K Phone numbers that I have always used, will it now be answered by Thomas Scientific Customer Service?

  • No. Your E&K team is still answering the phone numbers as before. Eventually we will merge the customer service teams from both companies in order to give our customers a higher level of service, but nothing is changing until further notice.

Do I still have a E&K Account number?

  • Thomas Scientific has worked at great lengths to capture your E&K Account Number information and to reflect your previous E&K Account Number as much as possible in the Thomas system.

What about my open orders that I have with E&K Scientific?

  • E&K Scientific has fulfilled as many open orders and open POs as possible. Any orders not fulfilled at the time of integration cut-off were then merged into the Thomas ordering system, along with any pertinent information and notes, to ensure a timely delivery of your products.

Can I use the same fax number to place orders?

  • Yes. The E&K Team is still receiving your orders via fax. Eventually faxes will be redirected to the appropriate Thomas Scientific fax number and processed by the enhanced Thomas/E&K customer service team.

Where should I send future Purchase Orders (POs)?

  • Going forward, all new POs should be submitted to Thomas Scientific.

Is Thomas Scientific receiving my orders that I emailed to E&K Scientific?

  • Yes. Thomas Scientific is receiving the orders that you send via email. They are being handled by the E&K team that has been serving you in the past and will be in the future.

Is Thomas Scientific receiving the orders that I enter through EDI to E&K Scientific?

  • Both E&K Scientific and Thomas Scientific are staying on top of that! Every customer that has an electronic catalog loaded in their Purchasing systems with E&K Scientific will be addressed by our IT department. Please stay tuned for direct communication regarding your electronic catalog.

I like to order items on the web. Will I still be able to do that?

  • Yes, absolutely! You will find the same product categories that you used to shop on the E&K website, as you get redirected to ThomasSci.com. You also have access to over 700,000 laboratory and clinical products to further assist you in your science.

Will I have the same sales representative?

  • Yes. We know that the relationship you have with your sales rep is important to you, and it is Thomas Scientific’s intent to continue to support and work with the existing E&K sales force.

How does the purchase of E&K Scientific by Thomas Scientific impact me?

  • The purchase of E&K Scientific opens up a world of additional products and suppliers to all E&K customers. Not only will you have access to the high quality products from E&K, just as you did in the past, you now have access and the ability to purchase the hundreds of thousands of items available in the Thomas Scientific distribution network.

Will this acquisition have an impact on delivery of my product?

  • Yes - in a Good way! Through the acquisition by Thomas Scientific, E&K now has multiple locations to ship from. Thomas Scientific is analyzing the customer base and the intent is to move any necessary inventory in order to bring faster delivery to our customers.

What will it say in my invoices?

  • Good question! Invoices will be shifting from E&K Scientific to Thomas Scientific. If your order was entered and shipped prior to the integration, you will be invoiced by E&K. My question wasn't really answered here. What should I do?

  • Both E&K Scientific and Thomas Scientific are ready to assist you! Products

Both Thomas Scientific and E&K Scientific have worked diligently to address as many questions and concerns you, our customers, may have about this integration and the products in which you purchase and rely on.

Why is the part number for my product different? Is it the same product that I have ordered in the past?

  • Merging product databases is a very detailed and time consuming process in which great care must be taken. Thomas Scientific has worked at great lengths to cross any products that both companies have been offering to their customers, as well as identify any products that would be considered new to the Thomas Scientific portfolio. Thomas Scientific has kept any existing products in our system as is, and has added products carried by E&K Scientific that were not previously carried by Thomas. E&K products have already been put into the Thomas system and website. In many instances, a search for an E&K part number will bring back the product you are looking for and it will reference the E&K part number while providing you a new Thomas number for future ordering. In some instances, Thomas may have already carried this product. If you are not seeing your E&K part number, we suggest searching by the manufacture part number to ensure you find the right product. If additional assistance is needed, please reach out to your direct sales representative or customer service.

Will I still have access to all of the products that I have bought in the past?

  • Yes! You will be able to purchase all of the items that you have been buying from E&K Scientific, plus many, many more! Thomas Scientific carries over 700,000 Laboratory and Clinical products. Our portfolio of products is constantly growing. Once you see how many items are available to you, there will be no reason to shop anywhere else!

Credit Card Payments

Both Thomas Scientific and E&K Scientific have worked hard to address as many questions and concerns you, our customers, have had about this integration. Below are some of the many things we will be addressing in the days to come, so please check back here often for the most up-to-date information.

Will Thomas Scientific accept credit card payments?

  • Yes! If you placed orders in the past using a credit card with E&K Scientific, you will be able to do so with Thomas Scientific.

When did Thomas Scientific acquire E&K Scientific?

  • Thomas Scientific, LLC acquired E&K Scientific on May 4, 2018.

What is the structure of the Company now?

  • E&K Scientific has been fully integrated into Thomas Scientific (structurally as well as systemically). E&K no longer has an Employer Identification Number (Tax ID number) of their own. They have been tucked in under the Thomas Scientific Holdings, LLC EIN number which is 61-1853692.

Who do I pay?

  • Orders placed with E&K Scientific and shipped prior to the completion of the system integration will be invoiced by E&K on the invoice format you are used to seeing. For those invoices, you should pay E&K in the manner and method you have been paying them.
  • Going forward, all new orders will be invoiced on a Thomas Scientific invoice. For those invoices, you will make your payments to:

What if I have questions about my invoice or status of my payment?

Accounts Payable

Both Thomas Scientific and E&K Scientific have worked hard to address as many questions and concerns you, our Vendors and Suppliers, may have about this integration. Below are some of the many things we will be addressing in the days to come, so please check back here often for the most up-to-date information.

When did Thomas Scientific acquire E&K Scientific?

  • Thomas Scientific, LLC acquired E&K Scientific on May 4, 2018.

Who will pay my invoices?

  • Receipts from resale product Suppliers/Vendors that arrived prior to the system integration were received into E&K’s system and will be paid by E&K in the same manner E&K has historically paid your invoices (check, p-card).
  • Going forward, receipts from resale product Suppliers/Vendors will be received into Thomas’ system and will be paid by Thomas in the same manner E&K has historically paid your invoices (via check or p-card). Checks will have the Thomas Scientific name on them. Invoices received from expense vendors prior to the system integration occurs (TBD) will be paid by E&K in the same manner you have been paid in the past.
  • Going forward, invoices received from expense vendors after the system integration will be paid by Thomas Scientific in the same manner you have been paid in the past by E&K. Checks will have the Thomas Scientific name on them.
