The Researcher Steamer hollow fiber membrane products incorporates our latest glycerin free low extractables, heat resistant modified polyethersulfon membrane technology. All Steamer products are gamma irradiated and ready to use without any tedious pre-rinse. The Steamer HF cartridges are the product of choice for perfusion/ATF applications. They can be repeatetively autoclaved in an ATF perfusion unit or as a stand alone HF cartridge and of course also in a tubing assembly.
The extractables level for the Researcher Steamer is approximately 80x less than a glycerin conditioned membrane. (Please see graph below). After a quick buffer conditioning The HF cartridge is ready to use to be used or autoclaved.
The Researcher Steamer hollow fiber cartridges are positioned between the laboratory scale Explorer Steamer and the full pilot scale Investigator Steamer cartridges. The membrane surface area is between 444 cm2 for the Researcher12 Steamer and up to 1,715 cm2 for Researcher41 Steamer and are the perfect choice for perfusion applications, small aseptic processes and preparative biopharmaceutical work with sample volumes between 400 ml up to 8000 ml.
The Researcher Steamer cartridges are available with molecular weight cut-off from 3K to 750 K and 0.1 um, 0.2 um and 0.45 um and with the same path length as all other WaterSep HF cartridges which makes scale up/scale down exact and predictable.
Typical Applications:
- Cell perfusion with an atf system or conventional pump operated perfusion. Bioreactor and steamer hollow fiber assembly can be autoclaved simultaneously.
- Aseptic/sterile uf-mf applications, where autoclaving is required.
Recommended batch volume for Researcher12 Steamer: 0.4L- 2L with a permeate flow rate of 1.4 L/h.
