Aggressive chemical compatibility
- Inherently hydrophobic
- Laminated and unlaminated
- Unlaminated membranes are more compatible with strong acids, aggressive solvents and high temperatures
- Recommended for: aggressive solvents, strong acids or base filtration; sterilization, clarification; and air and gas venting
- pH range: 1-14
PTFE membranes are available with or without laminated polypropylene support. They will not absorb moisture from air or gasses making them ideal for venting applications, phase separations and aerosol sampling.
LAMINATED MEMBRANES are made of polytetraflouroethylene polymer (PTFE) laminated to a polypropylene support for improved durability and easy handling. Chemically compatible with strong acids and most aggressive solvents such as alcohols. Can also be used to filter aqueous solutions when prewetted with methanol. Autoclavable up to 130°C (260°F)
UNLAMINATED MEMBRANES are compatible with stronger acids, aggressive solvents and high temperatures, which can soften the polypropylene support of laminated PTFE. Ideal for applications that require high temperatures and strong acids without adding particulates to the filtrate. Stable up to 260°C (500°F).
UNLAMINATED LARGE PORE SIZE MEMBRANES are unsupported but twice as thick for easier handling.
