100% Plant-Based
Planet-Safe® Petri dishes from Diversified Biotech are made from polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable and compostable resin derived from a variety of non-GMO renewable resources such as sugar beets, sugarcane and corn.
Superior Cell-Binding
PLA bioresin is substantially more hydrophilic than petrochemical resins such as polystyrene. This beneficial property allows a variety of anchorage-dependent eukaryotic cell species to grow in liquid culture on the Petri dish surface without added coatings such as extracellular matrices (ECM), proteins, collagen, fibronectin, poly-D-lysine, or specialty plasma gas treatments.
Ideal Platform For Microbial Growth
Planet-Safe® Petri dishes are ideal for growing bacteria, yeasts, and molds. Excellent optical transparency enables microscopic examination of cells while resisting organic solvents such as alcohols, ketones and hydrocarbons.
Eco-Responsible Disposal
Disposing of Planet-Safe® labware is easy and environmentally responsible. All Planet-Safe® labware is commercially compostable. Alternatively, Petri dishes may be incinerated, releasing carbon dioxide and water, or disposed of in a landfill where spent growth media will aid PLA breakdown into neutral components.
