L-Broth Agar is a nutritionally rich medium originally developed for growth and maintenance of recombinant E. coli strains. MP Biomedicals offers L-Broth Agar medium in an encapsulated format for convenience and ease of use.
L-Broth agar medium capsules have same high quality formulation as L-Broth agar powder with the added advantage of being in a capsule form, eliminating the need for weighing and handling. The growth characteristics are the same as L-Broth agar powder.

The ultimate in ease and convenience, L-Broth Agar Medium in a capsule form eliminates the waste, inaccuracies, and mess associated with weighing out bulk powder.The growth characteristics are the same as L-Broth Agar powder. L-Broth Agar Medium supports a luxurious growth of E. coli cells as tryptone and yeast extract supply essential growth factors that E. coli cells would otherwise have to synthesize. The medium also contains essential electrolytes for transport and osmotic balance, due to the NaCl component .
Preparation Method
Media Preparation: Reagents are tested and chosen for their ability to promote optimum growth of E. coli when combined in L-Broth Agar Medium formulations. Chosen reagents are combined in the proper proportions according to the L-Broth Agar formulation and thoroughly blended for a uniform distribution. A sample of the blended formulation is used to prepare agar medium. The combinations are mixed to dissolve components and then autoclaved at 121°C for 15 minutes.
Recommended Use
Add 31 capsules per liter of purified water and autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
