Results are expressed as time in seconds for the liquid to flow through the orifice until the first break in the efflux stream. Time in seconds may be converted to centistokes with the help of the table included with each cup. The body is machined from solid bar aluminum and the orifice is made of brass. Calibrated cups are calibrated against standard oils referenced to certified NIST oils.
Ford Cup Accessory Kit includes a cover glass for removing excess sample from cup, a bubble level for leveling cup and stand, a stainless steel beaker and a package of cleaning swabs.
Ranges (in centistokes): Cup #2: 25-120; Cup #3: 37-231; Cup #4: 70-370. All cups conform to ASTM Standards D 333, D 365 and D 1200.

The cup is inserted into center tube of bath. Water temperature is maintained by connecting the coolant coil to your present circulating constant temperature equipment. The bath is made of aluminum with copper coolant coils. Only water in coolant coil circulates; the water which surrounds the cup remain stationary.
