FreeZone 6 Liter Console Freeze Dryers are designed for lyophilizing moderate to large sample loads or numerous small container batches. The console features a front viewing window, interior space for a vacuum pump, and accommodation for a large tray dryer such as the FreeZone Stoppering Tray Dryer (pump and tray dryer sold separately). These models offer a broad range of built-in options including a purge valve and mini chamber.
They feature a brushed stainless steel and glacier white, powder-coated steel exterior, hot gas defrost, side-mounted USB port and rear-mounted Ethernet connection. A moisture sensor prevents refrigeration or vacuum start-up when moisture is detected in the drain line.
The upright stainless steel collector coil holds 6 liters of ice before defrosting. Two 1/3 hp HCFC/CFC-free refrigeration systems cool the collector to -84°C (-119°F), suitable for low eutectic point samples including acetonitrile. The collector lid is 3/4" thick and has a neoprene gasket. Models with PTFE-coated collectors that can withstand corrosive compounds are available.
Lyo-Works™ OS provides a real time display of collector temperature and vacuum level on a 5" full color, capacitive touchscreen. Lyo-Works OS controls optional drying accessories providing 30 programs that can hold up to 16 segments each as well as the optional End-Zone™ end point detection system for flask freeze drying. Display includes navigation to start-up mode, vacuum set point, alerts, diagnostic tests, user manual, and defrost control. Data logging stores and displays data in table or chart format and data may be exported via USB or Ethernet. Language can be set to English, Spanish, French, German or Italian. Other settings include time, time zone, temperature (° C or ° F) and vacuum (mBar, Torr or Pa). Alerts and feedback of current operating programs can be sent automatically to user-entered email addresses.
FreeZone exclusive features protect the vacuum pump from damage. A vacuum break valve bleeds air into the system when power to the freeze dryer or vacuum pump is shut off for more than 5 minutes. A moisture sensor prevents refrigeration or vacuum start-up when moisture is detected in the drain line. If the vacuum level is higher than 5 mill bar for 30 minutes the vacuum pump will automatically turn off.
Options include a purge valve for isolating the vacuum pump from the freeze dryer and built-in stainless steel mini vacuum drying chamber with control to +60°C.
Vacuum pump with a displacement of at least 98 liters/minute, drying accessory and freeze dry glassware (if not bulk freeze drying) are required (not included).
