Protector Work Stations are specifically designed for the needs of pathologists and histotechnologists. Like a traditional fume hood, these enclosures have a front air foil and rear baffle to direct the inflow air across the work area and away from the operator. Protector Work Stations designed for ducting to the outside are available with or without a built-in blower. If there is no feasible way to vent to the outside, models with a built-in blower are available that use specially-treated carbon filters. These filter packs keep low level concentrations of toluene, xylene, formalin, formaldehyde and other solvents below their OSHA-recommended, time-weighted averages, restoring clean air to the laboratory. Models without a blower can also be connected to a FilterMate Portable Exhauster instead of ducting outside. These enclosures rely on patented containment-enhancing features and face velocities from 60 to 100 fpm to rid the laboratory of solvent vapors associated with gross sectioning, trimming, cover slipping and staining. Protector Work Stations are an asset in cramped or crowded labs as they feature a low profile to fit easily under standard upper cabinets. Protector Work Stations without built-in blower are designed for connection to a remote blower or house exhaust system. Available work surface is molded from durable epoxy resins, its surface accommodates standard dissecting boards and is dished to contain spills. It resists corrosion and does not stain or absorb liquids. Includes a 10” x 14” x 6” deep molded epoxy sink. Fixtures include a chrome-plated gooseneck faucet with vacuum breaker, two chrome-plated faucet controls, and a spray nozzle with hose. Sink requires a 1.5” drain connection.
