Synonym(s): PDL
Formula: D-Lys-(D-Lys)n-D-Lys · xHBr
CAS No.: 27964-99-4
Application: Recommended as a cell culture substratum when using 0.5 - 1.0 mL of a 0.1 mg/ml solution to coat 25 cm. Optimal conditions for attachment must be determined for each cell line and application.
General description: Poly-lysine polymers are useful molecules to prepare surfaces for cell attachment. Poly-lysine polymers are available in L and D conformations. Poly-L-lysine polymers can be digested by some cell types, whereas poly-D-lysines are stable. Poly-lysine polymers from 70 to 300 kDa provide sufficient attachment site density for good cell adherence. However, higher the molecular weight poly-lysine polymers are more viscous and difficult to work with.
The choice of poly-lysine polymer for a specific cell type and application should account for the susceptibility of the polymer to digestion, the required attachment site density and the difficulty in handling.
Analysis Note: Molecular weight based on viscosity.
Other Notes: This product has a lowerer binding site density, but is less viscous than P6407. It is a poly-D-lysine that can be used with cells that digest poly-L-lysine polymers.
