Anti-EPX antibody produced in rabbit Prestige Antibodies(R) Powered by Atlas Antibodies, affinity isolated antibody, buffered aqueous glycerol solution

Not yet rated

The gene EPX (eosinophil peroxidase) is mapped to human chromosome 17q22. The gene encodes for a secondary granule protein. The EPX protein is mainly secreted by eosinophils. It belongs to the alarmin family of proteins.

Synonyms: Anti-EPO; Anti-EPP; Anti-EPX-PEN; Anti-eosinophil peroxidase

Storage: -20C

Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: EPX (eosinophil peroxidase) is a heme-containing enzyme. It is also a pro-angiogenic protein and stimulates endothelial cells to control vessel development. Levels of EPX in sputum is connected with eosinophil cell counts in the sputum. Single nucleotide polymorphism in this gene is associated with inflammatory bowel disease. This association is dependent on the age and gender of the person. Humans with ulcerative colitis show high intraluminal release of EPX. EPX is also linked with various cancers. Absence or low activity of EPX causes hereditary eosinophil peroxidase deficiency.
