ABLE K Competent Cells for toxic clones reduce copy number 10-fold compared to the XL1-Blue strain.
Reduces the copy number of ColE1-derived plasmids (such as pUC and pBluescript® plasmids) 10-fold
Decreases level of cloned protein product to increase cell viability
Transformation efficiency of 5 x 10^6 - 2 x 10^7 transformants/µg
Also available in an electroporation-competent version
ABLE K Competent Cells for toxic clones enhance the probability of cloning DNA encoding toxic proteins. By reducing the copy number of ColE1-derived plasmids, the ABLE K strain decreases the levels of cloned gene products and enhances the probability of propagating a toxic clone.
ABLE K Competent Cells provide a viable alternative to commonly used cloning vectors with high copy numbers. Positive clones observed on initial screening of lambda libraries can be excised or re-cloned into any convenient vector and can be introduced into ABLE K strains.
