Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) is typically used in cell culture media as a buffer.
Endotoxin and Mycoplasma Tested
Applications
Although NaHCO3 does not have the buffering capacity of HEPES, it is occasionally preferred over HEPES because of its lower toxicity and nutritional value to cells in culture. Sodium Bicarbonate, 7.5% is useful as a buffer for culturing a broad spectrum of mammalian cells.
Recommendation
Dilute Sodium Bicarbonate in appropriate cell culture media, to a final concentration of 5-15 mM
